AGideas Flyer
Part A: The Job

Designing the postcard was a challenge. I thought to use the shape of the country and to incorporate it with Australia’s national flag. I then wanted to include the coat of arms of Australia with a green and gold football jersey. I included the colours and flags of each state.

Rationale
Blackoak Std - Has slab serifs and extremely wide letterforms and makes an
arresting display type.
Helvetica Textbook LT Roman - Is bold wide.
Garamond - Legible and readable serif typeface.
Verdana
-Readable at small sizes on a computer screen.
Franklin Gothic Book - is an extra-bold
sans-serif type which can be distinguished from other sans serif typefaces, as
it has a more traditional double-story g and a. Other main distinguishing
characteristics are the tail of the Q and the ear of the g. The tail of the Q
curls down from the bottom center of the letterform in the book weight and
shifts slightly to the right in the bolder fonts.
Colour Society Project
Part B:
Use Photoshop or Illustrator to
design a postcard (148mm by 105mm).
This project offers an opportunity for student designers to produce
designs that show their impression of the colours of Australia. We all view
colours differently, and we have all had differing experiences in life. Take
this as an open brief to show what colour means to you.![]() |
